The number of foreclosed houses and bankruptcy homes sold last year in Georgia accounted for a huge percentage of total housing unit sales. The figure did record a decline when compared with 2009 levels, but the state remained in the top 10 ranking of U.S. regions with the highest percentage of distressed property sales in 2010.

The residential properties are being sold at prices that are heavily discounted and are way below the actual values of the homes.
